Roatán, Honduras (RTB)
Situated 30 miles from mainland Honduras, Roatan is the largest of the Bay Islands. Measuring 40 miles long and surrounded in coral reef, it is famous for its diving (especially reef walls, shipwrecks, and even a submerged airplane). Its beautiful waters and sandy beaches are a vacationers paradise. The island’s inland attractions include horseback riding, biking and two canopy tours.
Roatan also shares many cultural ties to Belize. One will notice many of the same place names such as Corozal and Punta Gorda, and even some of the same “Creole” dialect being spoken.
