Flight Simulator Experience
Ever dream of what it’s like to be a Tropic Air pilot? With Tropic Air’s Redbird CRV Flight Simulator Experience, your dreams can become reality.
Our Redbird CRV flight simulator is located on the second floor of our San Pedro terminal. This Advanced Aircraft Training Device (AATD) is the first of its kind in the region and is a complete cockpit replica of a Cessna 208 Caravan. The simulator offers a fully lifelike range of motion, while the computer generated 220 degree screens are a true likeness to the landscape of Belize, both on the ground and in the air.
Every Tropic Air pilot takes part in a mandatory three hour training session every six months as part of Tropic Air’s Safety Management Program. The simulator enables all pilots to get practical experience in emergency procedures, system failures, unfavourable weather conditions and familiarization with the airports to which Tropic Air flies.
While the primary goal of the flight simulator is to aid in the ongoing training of our Tropic Air pilots, we are very pleased to be able to offer the simulator to the public to experience what it like to be a pilot. All simulator sessions are given by an experienced training officer. During your “flight” you will be taught how to start the aircraft, going through a checklist before embarking, how to taxi on the runway, how to take off, how to fly midair, bank, turn and finally how to land.
It makes a great gift for a flight enthusiast or those who want to consider a flying career. If you are a licensed pilot on holiday in Belize, an hour simulator session will also build your flying time. Sessions can also be for as little as 15 minutes if you just want to get an idea of what it’s like to fly a plane. It’s a really fun and informative experience for young and old.
We look forward to welcoming you aboard. Come fly with Tropic Air, the Airline of Belize
