London

Located on the banks of the River Thames, the capital city of London was built by the Romans some 2000 years ago as Londinium. Inhabited by over 8 million people, it is one of the most culturally diverse Capital cities in the world with more than 300 languages spoken and the culture and food scene to match.  London boasts over 170 museums and art galleries – the British Museum, the Science Museum, the National Gallery and The Tate Modern, among them. Diverse architecture can be found everywhere from the oldest building in the Tower of London, to the hyper modern Gherkin and Shard.  The London Eye, a huge Ferris wheel provides a panoramic view of the city and many of its World-famous landmarks such as Big Ben, Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Buckingham Palace.

London has an extensive transport system – the ubiquitous red double decker bus above ground and the London Underground (the tube) below, as well as the black London cabs available on every street. With its five airports, London is one of the most visited cities in the world
