Chetumal, Mexico

Chetumal, lies near the mouth of the Rio Hondo, just seven miles north of the border with Belize. It is the capital of the state of Quintana Roo which governs cities such as Cancun and Playa Del Carmen.

The Chetumal area offers an exceptionally wide diversity of activities, from diving and shopping to ecotourism trips to nearby Maya archaeological sites.

There are an abundance of hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, movie theaters and specialty shops for your needs, whether you are a tourist or a resident.  This also makes it a popular weekend getaway for many Belizeans.

Chetumal airport, located on the outskirts of the city, has several daily flights to Mexico City. For this reason, many travelers from the interior of Mexico use it as the gateway to their Belize vacation. Likewise it has also become the easiest way for many Belizeans to get to cities in Mexico.
